Real-Life Stories from Our Louisiana Community

*These are clients of our sponsor, Baron & Budd, P.C.

My dad was a people person. Everyone loved him. My dad worked at a fertilizer plant in Convent, Louisiana until his death. I’m not aware that my dad knew that he was being exposed to asbestos at the plant. The diagnosis of severe asbestosis affected my dad in many ways. He couldn’t do the normal activities that he was able to do before. It was kind of a slow progression, and then towards the end it just kind of sped up where he couldn’t even really walk ten steps without having to take a break just to breath. My mom and dad chose Baron & Budd primarily from a referral from a previous client of Baron & Budd. Baron & Budd was absolutely the right choice for our family for this case. There was never a time that Baron & Budd got in the way. In fact, they’ve gone out of their way to make sure that they weren’t a burden on the family. The outcome of the trial was a positive judgment for our family. If somebody came to me and was diagnosed or a family member was diagnosed with either asbestosis or mesothelioma, the first thing I would tell them is to seek help right away from a law firm. Specifically, I would recommend Baron & Budd as that law firm. So it is very important to start that process earlier because you don’t know what is going to happen down the line.

My name is Bill. My wife’s name is Anna. I was a pipefitter/pipe welder. I was exposed especially to chemical plants with asbestos. I was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2021. After I was diagnosed with mesothelioma, I had treatments of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Before I was diagnosed with this disease, I was walking like a mile and a half a day and I started noticing that when I finished, I had to go get on my front porch and relax. It started really getting hard on breathing. The wife, she was actually the one that made me go to one of them country doctors and then when he checked my lungs, he told me “Bill, I don’t like what I hear.” When he came back with the x-rays, he says “Bill, I want you to go get Mrs. Anna, and go straight to the hospital.” It was mesothelioma. He told me there was no cure. You know, just wait and time. I know it’s time is coming. Once I found that I had mesothelioma, I needed to get a lawyer. Baron & Budd, that’s who I should call, and so I called them. They came out within days at my house in Mississippi and signed me up. Chris Colley is the gentleman that stayed by my side the whole time. He never left. He protected me with my rights and everything, made sure that these other lawyers wouldn’t pounce on me. And they financially got me stable. Going to trial, it lasted five days. And going to trial, I was awarded the largest sum in Louisiana history on asbestos. Really, one amazing thing I want to say is Baron & Budd has seen me through these difficult times where I don’t have to worry about my wife. She’s taken care of. That’s the main thing. Baron & Budd.

I started a career out in firefighting. I was a District Chief. When I played sports, my dad would always bring me to practice. Never missed. So as soon as he got off work, he came home and we jumped in the car and went to practice. I’ve been diagnosed with mesothelioma. I thought it was all due to the fire department, that exposure. Come to find out, it wasn’t from that. My dad worked in the industrial field his whole career. Just finding out, him bringing home some of the stuff that was a secondary exposure to me. We’d always be close and we’d always be touchy-feely, hugging and all that. So I just learned that probably due to that and through him not knowing anything. The exposure was from his clothes and we’ve been a close-knit family. When we got the law firm Baron & Budd involved, really things started moving. They jumped on my case like it was the best case in the world. Their excitement about, their drive to satisfy me and try to get the end result. I was very impressed. I would recommend Baron & Budd. They take care of business.

Who Am I Suing?

We pursue compensation from asbestos manufacturers and all viable defendants. Manufacturers knew the dangers of their asbestos products, yet they continued to use asbestos because of the profitability.

We can help you identify which manufacturer, corporation, facility or beyond was responsible for your exposure to asbestos.
